About the grid data
Frequency is from Elexon FREQ, using timestamped 15-second readings. This panel refreshes every 30 seconds while the Grid live tab is visible. Delayed readings are flagged.
The frequency chart shows only NESO’s tighter 49.8–50.2 Hz normal operating band, with a 50 Hz reference. Wider steady-state bands are omitted. Fault-related excursions are assessed under separate standards. This panel does not constitute an event-compliance assessment.
Elexon rolling system demand: five-minute average MW, derived from generation and imports supplying the GB transmission system. Refreshes every minute while this tab is open. This is transmission demand, rather than total demand including embedded generation.
The latest pie uses Elexon’s current fuel-type report, with imports grouped together. Negative flows are excluded. Embedded solar is not included. Latest timestamps are displayed; delayed data is flagged.
History uses five-minute readings up to 24 hours, hourly readings for one week and one month, and daily means of hourly readings for twelve months, five years and ten years. Older intervals can be missing; daily means use the available readings and unfilled gaps remain visible. The 12-month, 5-year and 10-year traces use the same rolling-demand series.
The 20-year view uses NESO’s half-hourly transmission-demand series, averaged daily. This is a different published series from Elexon rolling demand. Only records marked as actuals are included where NESO supplies that flag.

Coverage and sources
Project locations: DESNZ Renewable Energy Planning Database, July 2026, operational GB wind projects. The register covers projects above 150 kW, and some earlier small projects are absent. Includes project phases and separately registered reporting stations where an exact project link is unavailable.
BMU locations and identifiers: Energy Systems Catapult’s published power-station mapping, supplemented only by unambiguous exact-name links to Elexon’s current wind-unit register. Unmatched units remain unlinked.
Output: Elexon final Physical Notifications (PN), interpolated for the current time. These are scheduled outputs before balancing instructions, so actual production can differ. Farm-level operational metering is not publicly available; settled actuals are delayed. Missing data is never replaced with zero.
Outline: approximate NESO DNO licence-area boundaries. Contains OS-derived project location data and DESNZ data under the Open Government Licence; Energy Systems Catapult mapping under MIT.
